Snapdragon 765G and 90Hz display, £379 and £469 variants
OnePlus has confirmed the full specifications of its Nord mid-range device, as well as an August 4 UK launch date.
The manufacturer had teased the device over the past few weeks, including showing off a model in an interview between co-founder Carl Pei and tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee.
Today, OnePlus revealed the phone’s full design at an AR-assisted launch event.
Design
The 5G-capable device has an AMOLED 6.44-inch display, with a 90Hz refresh rate, covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Like other recent mid-range smartphones from Realme and Xiaomi, it runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chipset.
It runs OxygenOS 10.5, OnePlus’ latest software iteration that also runs on its OnePlus 8 flagship.
Its 4,115mAh battery can be replenished by Warp Charge 30T, which the manufacturer claims can restore 70 per cent of battery in half an hour.
The camera is the same 48MP main sensor that the OnePlus 8 uses, with an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 5MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens. The front camera is 32MP, with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The video camera can shoot 4K videos at 60fps.
OnePlus is also promising two years of software updates and three years of security updates.
The device is launching in two variants. One, with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, will cost £379. The other, with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, will cost £469. Both variants will be available in Blue Marble and Grey Onyx colours.
Release
OnePlus made the phone available today (July 21) with an online pop-up. It will then have another pop-up event at John Lewis stores on July 31, before launching the phone on August 4 at John Lewis, Three, and the OnePlus online store.
“The OnePlus Nord is an important milestone for OnePlus, as we always look for new ways to share the best technology with more people around the world. We are excited to finally bring a more accessible OnePlus smartphone that confidently stands alongside other products in the OnePlus family,” said OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau.
OnePlus also officially announced OnePlus Buds, new wireless earphones that Pei was seen wearing in the interview with Brownlee. Offering 30 hours of listening at full charge, they are available from OnePlus’ online store for pre-order from today for £79.
