Following an upgrade by EE, Wembley Stadium has become the first UK sports venue to get a 5G Standalone (SA) mobile network .

The new 5G SA network will be available to the public for the first time on February 26, during England Women’s UEFA Nations League match against Spain. EE subscribers attending the game will benefit from reliable connectivity, even in crowded areas.

EE’s 5G SA network is already available to more than 21 million people across cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Cardiff. This latest upgrade builds on EE’s multi-year partnership with Wembley Stadium.

Packed Wembley: standalone 5G improves speeds and reliability

EE has been the official lead partner of Wembley Stadium since 2015, with the latest renewal extending the collaboration through to 2028.

Beyond connectivity, EE has invested in various technological and accessibility improvements at Wembley and supported the development of sensory rooms designed for neurodivergent spectators.

Three is the only network that has not yet launched a 5G Standalone network.
