EE has launched an eSIM service for pay monthly SIM-only mobile users.
EE’s eSIM enables customers on SIM-only plans to choose their plan, select their eSIM type, and download it from the EE website or EE app. Customers selecting an eSIM-compatible device will now have the option to choose an eSIM at the point of purchase.
They will receive a QR code to make the eSIM ready for immediate use, or they can log into the EE app and download it at a later date—giving customers flexibility and choice on how and when they want to use their eSIM.
“EE regularly looks to support new technologies and the benefits they can bring, and was one of the first networks in the UK to support eSIM,” said an EE spokesperson.
“Today’s move forms part of EE’s ongoing plans to build the best eSIM customer experience on the UK’s best mobile network. EE’s new Instant Download experience follows EE’s wider eSIM support, as more and more of the latest smartphones adopt eSIM technology. EE is committed to offering customers a flexible, efficient, and seamless way to stay connected through the process.
“Customers opting for an eSIM will be reducing their environmental impact as eSIMs eliminate the need for a physical SIM card, minimizing waste and reducing environmental pollution associated with their production and disposal—while still maintaining the same speed and connectivity as a physical SIM.”
