HP will manufacture tablets, notebooks and Chromebooks which will run on Three’s network, with data bundles being managed by Fogg Mobile
Three has signed an exclusive deal with mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE) Fogg Mobile that will see it use the operator’s network to offer data bundles.
The deal follows technology company HP’s decision to partner with Fogg Mobile to launch tablets, notebooks and Chromebooks with mobile data powered by Three’s 3G network, branding it as HP DataPass.
Fogg Mobile will provide bespoke data bundles and SIM cards and will manage the service for manufacturers.
HP DataPass offers customers 250MB of free data per month for 24 months when purchasing new connected devices from November 2013.
Three already provides mobile data connectivity for Dell and Lenovo devices.
Three Wholesale Director Lynda Burton said: “Fogg Mobile has made it easy for HP to tap into the rapidly growing mobile data market, and to fulfil customers’ desire to always be connected.
“Fogg has long been a trusted partner of Three, utilising Three’s market leadership and experience in mobile data.”
Fogg Mobile founder Carl-Magnus Stenberg said: “As the need for mobile data increases, there is a need for a new technical and commercial business model that Fogg provides.
“Confidence from a global company like HP is overwhelming. There is a great potential to reach out to the world, but we’re taking one step at a time and hope that both customers and partners will join us on our journey.”
