The SIMs have been given to the refugees based in London and Leicester

Lyca Mobile has donated 1,000 pre-paid SIM cards to support Afghan refugees arriving in the UK.

The UK-based MVNO has distributed the SIM cards to Afghan refugees that are based in London and Leicester, with an additional 200 starter SIM packs donated to refugees in Denmark.

These SIM cards come with credit, with calling rates starting from 19 per minute for calls to any network provider in Afghanistan.

Lyca Group founder and chairman Subaskaran Allirajah, commented: “As the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan deepens and the scale of the situation continues to rapidly change, we feel that we have a responsibility to aid those refugees resettling in the UK.

“At a time like this, mobile services are one of the only ways to feel close to those who are displaced in other locations, so we hope that this SIM card scheme goes some distance in helping families feel connected,  despite the barriers that may keep them apart.”
