Galaxy Note7 UK launch unaffected despite pre-order stock selling out

Manufacturer’s latest device will be released in the UK on September 2 as planned, but availability across parts of Europe will be phased

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 will launch in the UK on September 2 as planned, despite its entire pre-order allocation selling out.

It was made available for pre-order from August 16 across all major mobile retailers and operators but the manufacturer has now revealed prior to this, registrations for the phablet on its digital channels have exceeded that of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

This has led to a limit being imposed on the total number of European pre-order allocation for the Note7, with this specifically designed to ensure that as much of the anticipated public demand as possible could be satisfied when it goes on general sale.

Phased roll-out

As a result, availability in Europe is being phased. Countries will launch on either September 2, 9 or 16, but the UK will be among the first markets to launch across all channels.

It comes after Samsung revealed on August 16 that it was placing limits on the number of Note7 pre-orders following ‘unprecedented demand’ for the device.

Samsung UK and Ireland vice president of IT and mobile Conor Pierce said: “We’re focused on fulfilling as much of the anticipated demand as possible and given the excitement surrounding the return of the Galaxy Note to the UK, are delighted that we will be amongst the first in Europe to be selling the device from 2nd September.”
