The software is designed to protect Note7 owners fro malicious malware viruses designed to steal personal information

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 will come pre-installed with Intel’s McAfee VirusScan mobile security software, which is designed to protect smartphones from malicious malware viruses.

Malware is the term used to describe any virus created with the purpose of infecting a device to steal personal information or lock owners out. The South Korean hardware manufacturer claims the software has already protected millions of Galaxy owners from these dangers. Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S7 and S7 edge also have VirusScan software pre-installed.

According to the latest Intel McAfee Lab Threats Report published in June, there are over 305 new malware viruses created a minute, equivalent to more than five every second. The total number of dangers has also steadily been on the rise in recent years. There were over 550 million viruses in Q1 2016, an year-on-year increase from 400 million. The same period in 2014 saw just 260 million recorded viruses.

Intel Security corporate vice president John Giamatteo said: “Mobile threats continue to grow and be more sophisticated as we become increasingly connected. Now mobile devices are the tip of the spear for new hacking method.

“Intel Security is combatting these growing mobile threats by collaborating with mobile device manufacturer Samsung to keep customer’s mobile devices, data and privacy safe from vulnerabilities.”

Samsung Mobile security technology vice president Henry Lee added: “Security and privacy are at the core of what we do and what we think about every day. It is very important to provide a high level of protection at all times to our customers”

The Note7 (£699.99) has been available for preorder from August 17, with general sale opening on September 2.
