James Goddard started as a technician at the company

Exertis has continued its year of appointments with the announcement that James Goddard has become the sales and commercial director for its MTR subsidiary.

MTR specialises in extending the lifecycles of mobiles and tablet devices for Exertis’ customers, and is an approved Samsung repair centre. Goddard will report directly to Exertis mobile solutions director Simon Woodman.

Goddard has spent the last six years at MTR, starting as a technician, then rising up the ranks to become general manager in October 2018, before this current appointment.

“James is the ideal candidate to take the helm at MTR, having spent more than six years at the company, rapidly rising through the management ranks due to his commercial acumen and expertise in the second lifecycle market,” said Woodman. “MTR is a key part of our business offering a refurbishment and repair service for major mobile players as well as supporting Exertis with our DaaS and corporate mobile trade-in programmes. James has clearly showed that he has the leadership qualities to drive the business forward.”

Goddard added: “I am delighted to take on the challenge. We have an excellent foundation to build on and with the support and opportunities provided by Exertis, it’s an exciting time ahead. MTR has an entrepreneurial spirit, great technicians and a strong environmental philosophy which supports the circular economy through our innovative programmes that add value to our customers.”

Recently, Exertis made five appointments and promotions across September and October, and appointed a new head of marketing in November.
