The winning team will play seven matches throughout the tournament

Football fans will need at least 5GB of data to see their team’s entire journey to winning Euro 2016 if they are streaming matches on a mobile or tablet.

This is according to Geek Squad, Carphone Warehouse’s in-store repair team. It claims every minute of a match streamed on BBC iPlayer or ITV Player is the equivalent of 5.83MB of mobile data per minute.

The tournament kicks off this Friday (June 10) and will see football teams across the continent compete to be crowned European champions. France and Romania will be playing in the opening match.

Teams will play a total of three games in the group stage, which last 125 minutes with the half time break and injury time. Group stage matches for all teams total 2.2GB. The winning team will play four games in the knockout stage, which can last as long as 170 minutes with extra time and penalties.
