Device to retail at £299

Realme will launch the X50 5G in the UK on July 15, making the device its second 5G smartphone to be released in the UK.

The X50 5G is a cheaper version of the X50 Pro 5G, which launched in April. The device runs Realme UI Android 10 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, with a single 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage variant.

It has a 4,200mAh battery and 30W dart charging, which Realme claims can fully charge the phone in just under an hour.

It has a 6.57-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The quad-camera setup includes a 48MP main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Its dual-camera front setup includes a 16MP lens and a 2MP depth sensor.

It will be available from Realme’s online store and Amazon for £299 in either Ice Silver or Jungle Green colours. Customers who buy the device from Realme’s online store on July 15 will also get a free pair of Realme’s new Buds Q wireless earbuds.

Realme has become the third manufacturer to release a more affordable 5G smartphone in 2020, following Motorola’s G 5G Plus and Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Lite 5G.

According to Counterpoint Research, Realme increased its global shipments in the first quarter of 2020 by 157 per cent year-on-year, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
