Samsung unveils G800

The G800 is the first Samsung handset featuring optical zoom to be released in the UK. Optical zoom will be a welcome inclusion for many customers as it provides better picture quality when zooming than digital zoom.

The new handset also contains a variety of other photo features including face detection, Wide Dynamic Range, Xenon flash and auto focus. The G800 also offers professional video editing tools and a mobile blogging function that helps users to upload content to the web.

Samsung president of telecommunication network Geesung Choi said: “Samsung’s G800 will satisfy the unmet needs in the camera category with a true digital camera-like design and functionality.

“The G800 will enable users to capture and share precious moments in their daily lives through the enhanced camera functions in a fast 3G network.”

The G800 will be available across Europe from mid-November and will be supported by a major advertising campaign.
