RIM predicts Q3 revenue of £1.75bn

Research In Motion (RIM) has announced it expects third quarter revenue to be between $2.95-$3.10 billion (£1.6bn-£1.75bn). Net subscriber accounts are predicted to be 2.9 million.

RIM has increased its BlackBerry users to 19 million adding 2.6 million new users in the three months ending August.
 
Revenue was up 15 per cent in this period compared to the previous quarter and up 88 per cent from $1.37 billion compared to the same period last year. In total, 82 per cent of revenue came from devices, 13 per cent from services and three per cent from software.

Net income for the quarter was $495.5 million compared with $482.5 million in the previous quarter.

“[This year] is proving to be an extraordinary year for RIM and its partners,” said RIM co-chief executive Jim Balsillie.

“We shipped over 11 million BlackBerry smartphones in the first half and we’re gearing up for an even stronger second half.

“Our enterprise business remains strong and our momentum in the consumer marketplace continues as we head into the holiday buying season with an amazing product portfolio and solid marketing support from partners.”
