Sales of the iPhone have been slower than expected. The new tariffs are intended to increase the take-up rate.
Customers on a £35 per month iPhone contract will now get 600 minutes and 500 texts. Previously, customers on that tariff were entitled to just 200 minutes and 200 texts.
The new £45 per month tariff offers the same amount of minutes and texts as the old £55 price plan (1,200 minutes and 500 texts). Customers who were previously on the £55 per month option can either save £10 per month or take the new £75 tariff with 3,000 minutes and 500 texts.
iPhone customers will still receive unlimited browsing and access to The Cloud’s Wi-Fi hotspots as free bolt-ons to their contract. Existing iPhone customers will be transferred to the new tariffs during February.
O2 marketing director Sally Cowdry said: “The iPhone is already our fastest ever selling device and this added value will allow us to appeal to an ever greater segment of the market – it is an unbeatable proposition.
