Nokia fights patent charge

US chip-maker Qualcomm claims Nokia infringed two of its European patents in GPRS-enabled handsets.

A Nokia spokeswoman said: “Nokia is confident the trial will demonstrate Qualcomm’s alleged GSM patents are invalid and not infringed.”

The case is set to last three weeks. Qualcomm is seeking an injunction that would stop Nokia selling products using the patents in Britain.
