Carphone: ‘We have 10pc of laptop market’

Carphone Warehouse claims one in every 10 laptops sold in the UK are now purchased from its stores and websites.

Carphone has taken a 10 per cent share of the laptop market in little over six months, and it is expanding its range to include Apple Macbooks and a variety of Sony Vaio devices.

Carphone new business and multichannel director Andrew Brem said: “We have taken over 10 per cent of the laptop market and hope to increase this figure further. We haven’t determined how much we want to increase is by as a percentage share but we want to do what we did with mobile phones and make as many connections as we can.”

Carphone is presently offering the Asus XC58 for £30 per month on T-Mobile, the Sony Vaio NS10J/S for £40 per month on 3, the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li2727 for £30 per month on O2 and £28.95 per month a part of a Virgin Media cable package.

Also on offer are the HP 6720/6720B on Carphone’s own TalkTalk and AOL packages. The Asus Aspire XC58, Toshiba L300-1CU, Acer Aspre 7730/2920 are available on various mobile broadband bundles.

Its ‘netbook’ mini-laptop range includes the Asus EeePC 701 and Toshiba NB100.
