The purpose of the device is to give businesses reassurance during the coronavirus

Vodafone has helped to develop a Heat Detection Camera in an attempt to help UK businesses get back to work.

The operator has worked with security system supplier Digital Barriers to develop the Heat Detection Camera.

It combines thermal imaging and Vodafone’s IoT connectivity.

Vodafone claims the device can screen the temperature of up to 100 people a minute.

Recordings are streamed in real time to a laptop or mobile device, which can provide discreet alerts.

The temperatures are reliable to 0.3 degrees either above or below, according to Vodafone.

Vodafone UK CTO Scott Petty said: “The Heat Detection Camera brings together Vodafone’s expertise in IoT with innovative technology and a secure managed service to create an enterprise-grade solution that protects employees and front-of-house staff.

“Our IoT network can connect many cameras quickly and without disruption in almost any location.”

Digital Barriers CEO Zak Doffman added:”Partnering with Vodafone UK to bring this to market will ensure it is widely available and supported by a world-class IoT network and managed services operation.”

The device is part of Vodafone UK’s portfolio of Smart Vision products. It is available from £1,711 per month on a 12-month term.
