EE was also ranked fastest at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium in latest test results from network-testing firm

Vodafone has been named the fastest network at the O2 Arena, with O2 ranked a lowly third in a venue it has sponsored for almost a decade.

RootMetrics carried out its latest tests across a number of London venues, looking at median upload and download speeds.

At Wembley Stadium, which is sponsored by EE, the sponsor was fastest, with speeds of 25.6 Mbps and 20.1 Mbps for median download and upload respectively.

EE uses Wembley as a testbed for its new technologies, and it was the first place where the operator live tested Category 6 4G connectivity.

Vodafone was second at the national stadium, with Three taking the bronze, while O2 did not rank, RootMetrics said.

EE was also fastest at the first test carried out at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium, with median download and upload speeds of 11.6 Mbps and 6.6 Mbps. Second was Vodafone (82.8), Three were third (81.5), and O2 came last (55.1).

Perhaps the biggest surprise was the O2 Arena, where Vodafone recorded speeds of 3.5 Mbps and 2.4 Mbps respectively for downloads and uploads respectively, giving it a RootScore of 84.4 – better than EE (52.4), or O2 (38.3). Three did not register a score.
