Microsoft Band activity tracker comes with 11 different sensors and was launched in US in October
Tech Data has been appointed as the exclusive B2B distributor for the Microsoft Band 2 wearable in the UK.
The Basingstoke-based distributor says it will work with selected resellers to range the activity tracker, which was launched in October and is the follow-up to Microsoft’s first wearable, the Microsoft Band.
The Microsoft Band 2 comes with 11 sensors including a heart rate monitor, GPS, a calorie counter, sleep tracking and a skin temperature monitor. It has a full-color AMOLED display and works with Windows, Android and iOS devices.
It is the latest in a number of wearable wins for the distributor, which set up a dedicated wearables team at the end of last year to tackle a market predicted to be worth $25 billion globally by 2019 (CCS Insight). Earlier this year, Tech Data announced it would be ranging wearables from Jawbone, while last year it added Garmin.
Tech Data wearables BDM Michael Cain (pictured, right) said. “It’s still very early days but we are already uncovering huge opportunities and creating some very interesting case studies.
“Demand from our reseller partners has been huge and the initial ADR pilot programme that we launched with Microsoft at the start of the month has been really well received.”
