The partnership will enable quicker and more cost-effective access for MNOs and MVNOs
Sim Local has announced a partnership with eSIM management firm Giesecke+Devrient (G+D).
It is Sim Local’s largest partnership to date and will see the firm provide a full end-to-end eSIM service via G+D’s AirOn platform.
This will enable quick access for mobile network operators (MNOs) and MVNOs to the eSIM marketplace in a faster and more cost-effective way.
By 2025 shipments of eSIM-based devices are expected to reach close to two billion units, driven mainly by smartphones and enterprise IoT devices.
According to Sim Local the partnership will enable the company to get operators eSIM ready in a matter of weeks rather than months.
Sim Local head of eSIM strategy Gary Waite said: “G+D and Sim Local working together is a powerful combination, and through that collaboration we’ll provide compelling and cost-effective solutions for MNOs and MVNOs who want to be ready for eSIM in a very short timeframe.”
As part of the collaboration Sim Local will be able to provide the core capability operators need to offer eSIM services through online or physical retail.
G+D’s subscription manager data preparation (SM-DP+) service generates eSIM profiles and maintains each operator’s virtual warehouse separately and securely.
