Ian Rankin has been tasked with expanding Sim Local’s international business
Sim Local has announced the appointment of Ian Rankin as its chief trading officer.
He joins the SIM providers with the task of expanding the international profile of the business.
Rankin joins from WHSmith Singapore, where he worked as managing director and was responsible for building the presence of the retailer in South East Asia.
He has also held roles at Tesco and Sainsbury’s and will look to improve the existing retail offering Sim Local has.
Commenting on his appointment, Rankin said: “The opportunity for significant growth is clear and I look forward to helping bring the Sim Local brand to new markets, capitalising on the imminent restart of international travel and travellers’ need to stay connected whilst abroad.”
Sim Local currently has points of sale in place at over 150 locations worldwide.
Customers are able to buy SIM cards from travel affiliates of Sim Local, including WHSmith and InMotion, plus Sim Local stores and airport vending machines.
