Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 to hit the UK on February 12

Manufacturer’s slimmest smartphones to date, the first in its new A-Series range, will be available in retailers and networks including Carphone Warehouse, EE and O2

Samsung has announced its A3 and A5 smartphones will be available to buy in the UK from February 12.

Retail partners include Carphone Warehouse, EE and O2. Customers were also be able to pre-order the devices from the Samsung Experience Stores (SES) and via Samsung’s online shop from January 28. Demo handsets are also on display at the SES. They are available in a range of colours, including black and white.

The smartphones, which were first announced in October, are the first in Samsung’s new Galaxy A-Series and its thinnest to date at 6.9mm and 6.7mm respectively.

Both are powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, run the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and cased in metal. They have a five megapixel front camera, video playback of 30 frames per second and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded by up to 64GB with a microSD card.

The Galaxy A5 (pictured left) has a five-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen, 13 megapixel rear camera2GB of RAM and a 2,300mAh battery.

In contrast, the Galaxy A3 (pictured right) has slightly lower specs, with a 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED touchscreen eight megapixel rear camera, 1GB of RAM and 1,900mAh battery.
