HTC veteran Peter Frolund has departed from the manufacturer to seek a new challenge in the technology industry.

Frolund is currently doing consultancy work, he told Mobile News “the future I am aiming for is working in a technology company with an international footprint”.

He left HTC on September 30 after 12 years, where he held a number of senior positions. Frolund departed as HTC Vive Europe vice president.

Prior to this role he was UK and Ireland general manager from 2013 to 2016 and executive account director from 2005 to 2010. During which he was responsible for restructuring the mobile business and improvements to profitability.

Frolund began HTC Europe in 2005 as executive account director alongside HMD Global CEO Florian Sieche, and HTC veteran Phillip Blair.

Frolund told Mobile News: “When I left the mobile team, we agree that I would take on the responsibility for VR in Europe. Since that was a new area for me – we agreed an employment for a limited period of time, that got extended a couple of times.

But, after five years of commuting between Copenhagen and London, I had to balance my private life in a different way. “It has been great fun to work with all the different partners. Everything I’ve learned and done during my tenure will always be cherished.”
