Phones 4U reports record growth over Christmas

Strong contract sales see sales rise by almost a quarter last month from December 2011, with online sales up by almost half

Phones 4U has reported record growth for December, driven by contract sales which were up 34.8 per cent year-on-year and 26.8 per cent for the full year.

Total sales for December were £121.6 million, an increased of 23.3 per cent compared to the same month in 2011, with like-for-like sales rising 15.8 per cent.

For 2012, sales were up 20.7 per cent with full like-for-like sales increasing 11.9 per cent. Online sales saw a large growth spurt, with revenue up 47.3 per cent in December year-on-year and 73.2 per cent for the full year.

Phones 4U Group chief executive Tim Whiting said: “Our impressive Christmas numbers are reflective of consistently strong performance throughout 2012 as we continue to grow market share, especially amongst customers looking for the latest high-end smartphones purchased on contracts.
