Temperature scanners and social distancing management on offer

O2 has has partnered up with IT services firm Bell Integration to offer a range of digital services to help businesses get their employees back to the office.

The services can help measure staff body temperatures and office occupancy statuses, to make sure that employees are healthy enough to come in and can abide by social distancing rules.

Bell and O2 are offering the following: a thermal imaging tablet, a handheld thermal imaging scanner, and a social distancing room management solution.

The tablet has an infrared sensor that can read surface body temperature from a distance of one metre, with an accuracy to within 0.3°C. It also allows for contactless QR code scanning, so a business can track visitor and staff attendance.

Meanwhile, the imaging scanner is accurate to within 0.5°C, which O2 and Bell say is more accurate than many competitors, which only measure within 2°C. The social distancing room management solution comes in the form of sensors, which monitor attendance levels in different rooms and give feedback to a display unit, which changes colour depending on whether or not it is safe to enter.

“These new COVID-19 solutions will help minimise the risk of spreading the virus as the nation returns to work – through automation and reducing moments of physical interaction,” said O2 business managing director Jo Bertram. “It will not only help businesses get back on their feet but bolster their confidence as they reopen their doors over the coming weeks and months.”

O2 is trialling these two solutions at its slough headquarters, as well as an undisclosed number of small businesses, pubs, restaurants and offices.

O2 has already begun implementing virtual queuing and staff scheduling in its retail stores, as well as customers including supermarkets and healthcare businesses.
