The project was delivered by Neos in partnership with Aberdeen Council, Aberdeen City Council and NHS Grampian and is a result of a combined £10.5m investment

Business connectivity provider Neos Networks has confirmed it has completed its full fibre network project across Aberdeen.

The project was announced less than two years ago and highlighted a major investment and commitment to bring full fibre to boost the local economy, quality of life and public services.

The network stretches for 275km and links Aberdeen, Westhill, Stonehaven, Banchory, Inverurie and Ellon as well as some smaller communities.

It will connect 192 public sector buildings and will be within reach of 44,000 homes and 1,700 business premises.

Neos Networks chief revenue officer Sarah Mills said: “To have delivered the full fibre network, in this time frame, given all the challenges of the pandemic and various lockdowns, has been truly remarkable.

“Vital, and regionally important sites such as the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, 40-plus medical centres, as well as more than 50 schools and colleges, are supported by the new fibre network.

“Ultimately, the network will provide access that is critical to stimulating business growth and attracting investment in the region.”
