Macate enters UK mobile market unveiling cyber-security smartphone

The Genio will retail for £249 prepaid and will be available in stores later this year

Macate has today (July 5) announced its launch into the UK mobile space taking the wraps off its debut smartphone the Genio.

The Genio is a mid-range offering and will retail for £249 in stores later this year. Macate boasts an advanced encryption standard (AES) as a stand out selling point, offering consumers “maximum security level” and claiming it to be “one of the most secure mid-range phones in the UK”.

It has patented in-house developed technology that detects user location to give the highest grade of encryption compliant to the country they are in.

Customers will be able to snap up the device in white, light gold, black and champagne. A five inch HD screen features, as does a 13 megapixel main camera and five megapixel front snapper.

Running out of the box will be Android 7.0 Nougat. Pre-installed is Macate’s secure communication app NetMe. The free app uses encrypted technology allowing consumers to chat securely.

The firm was founded in 2001 in Silicon Valley and has also opened a UK base in Kensington.
