Huawei announced an investment of £20 million to support UK and Irish developers looking to work with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) at its first UK Developer Conference.

At the event in London, Huawei also launched 24 HMS core kits, which are open for developers to access and integrate within their apps.

In addition, the vendor confirmed that developers can claim an incentive of £20,000 if they upload apps onto the Huawei AppGallery by January 31.

It is expected that HMS will become the third-largest mobile ecosystem after Android and iOS, with four million users in the UK already and 600 million across the world.

Huawei UK managing director of the consumer business group Anson Zhang said the investment is aimed at encouraging developers to work with HMS.

“Our Huawei Mobile Services offering highlights our ongoing commitment and support for UK and Irish businesses and developers,” said Zhang.

“In recent years, we have grown significantly and owe our success to the consumers and partners who have chosen and believed in us.

“As a sign of that support and commitment to the UK and Irish market, we have announced our £20 million investment plan to recognise and incentivise our partners so that jointly we can build an outstanding ecosystem together.
