Carphone Warehouse will exclusively launch the phone in the UK from February 20

Huawei has finally confirmed a UK launch for its Huawei Mate 30 Pro smartphone.

The Mate 30 will launch exclusively with Carphone Warehouse on February 20, from £899 and will showcase the first glimpse of Huawei’s own operating system in Europe.

The flagship device was initially put on hold for release outside of China due to the ongoing Google restrictions being imposed on Huawei, after being deemed a ‘national security risk’ by the US and placed on the US Entity List by President Donald Trump.

Huawei confirmed at the global launch in Munich on September 19 that it will invest $1 billion into its own mobile and app services, with the Mate 30 Pro making use of this.

Instead the Mate 30 Pro will feature Huawei’s own EMUI10 OS and is Huawei’s first smartphone without pre-installed Google services.

Huawei is offering a Huawei Watch GT 2, plus Freebuds to customers as an incentive for people to buy the phone.

The Mate 30 Pro features Huawei’s own Kirin 990 chipset, a 4,500mAh battery plus upgraded reverse wireless charging.

There is a quad-camera system that includes two 40MP camera’s, an 8MP telephoto camera and a 3D depth sensing camera.

Users will also be able to use Huawei’s phone clone app to transfer over the majority of their apps (including the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram etc) onto their Mate 30 Pro.

While asides from Huawei’s App Gallery, customers will be able to use other third party app stores such as Amazon to download apps.

Other features include multi-screen collaboration, AI gesture control and 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
