Huawei aims for greener, digital Europe

The company outlined ways to unleash digital productivity and advance Europe’s green and digital transition, and fortify digital ecosystems

Huawei outlined its vision for overcoming digital transformation barriers by unleashing the power of technology for a greener, digital Europe at its Huawei connect event in Paris.

In his keynote speech, Ken Hu, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman, outlined three ways the ICT ecosystem can boost digital infrastructure.

He said: “Huawei will continue to work closely with our partners in Europe to support the region’s digital and green transition strategy.”

“We are committed to supporting Europe’s economic recovery, the success of its industry, and enabling sustainable development.”

A prominent group of business and government executives also spoke at the event, outlining the important actions their businesses are taking to advance Europe’s digital and green transition as well as sharing their best advice and insights.

Some of them who were present were Franc Bogovi, Member of the European Parliament; José Donoso, President of Global Solar; Gonzalo Elguezabal Ayala, Executive Director of AOTEC in Spain; and many others.

In order to support the development of digital talent in the area, Huawei collaborated with regional partners, and has also established a number of ICT academies in Europe with an emphasis on professional and student upskilling.

Since 2011, Huawei has trained more than 4,000 individuals in ICT across 12 nations in Europe, including the UK, France, and Germany.

“On the green front,”; said Hu, “we combine digital technology with power electronics to help our customers in all industries lower their carbon footprint and achieve the objectives of the European Green Deal.”

As of 2021, Huawei has helped its customers and partners generate more than 84 billion kilowatts of clean energy in Europe – cutting CO2 emissions by nearly 24 million tons.
