Lejeune held multiple posts at Alcatel and TCL
HMD Global has appointed industry veteran Alain Lejeune in the newly created role of global head of operations.
Lejeune has more than 25 years of industry experience, and will be responsible for overseeing operations and leading engineering and supply chain management efforts, reporting directly to HMD CEO Florian Seiche.
He joins from communications firm OneWeb, where he had been China senior advisor since June last year.
“Having worked in the mobile industry for over two and a half decades, I’ve witnessed huge shifts in the ways companies operate on a global scale,” said Lejeune.
“The need to adapt and move quickly has never been more business-critical as companies adjust to a world post-COVID-19. Steadfast operations play a pivotal role in maintaining equilibrium for a nimble startup such as HMD Global, and I look forward to helping the business maintain momentum and navigate change now and in the future.”
Before OneWeb, Lejeune worked at TCL between 2012 and 2019, and 2004 to 2009, with a brief stint in between as Asia Pacific CEO for Radio Frequency Systems.
Prior to starting at TCL, he was global supply chain director for mobile phones and then Asia Pacific VP at Alcatel, staying at the company when TCL acquired it in 2004.
In his second stint at the Chinese manufacturer, he was vice president of the worldwide mobile phone division, before becoming head of the relaunched Blackberry mobile division.
CEO Florian Seiche added: “Alain brings a wealth of experience with a deep understanding of the mobile industry. His blended and unique expertise, which spans operational excellence to fostering creativity in R&D, is one of the reasons we are confident he will make a tremendous impact on our journey.”
