“Now is not the time to celebrate”

Google has announced that it will delay the unveiling of its Android 11 operating system.

The tech giant was due to preview the latest iteration of its OS, followed by a beta launch, at an event on June 3, but decided to push it back over the weekend.

A tweet from the company’s Android Developers account said that “now is not the time to celebrate”. It is not clear what the exact reason for the postponement is, but it is possibly related to the ongoing civil unrest in the United States, which has occurred in parts of California where Google is based.

According to a blog from Google released earlier this year, Android 11 will bring new capabilities to apps including adaptations for foldable and 5G devices.
