It is the latest deal since Exertis entered the handset space in 2008, adding to existing partnerships with Samsung, Microsoft, LG, Sony, Lenovo, Acer, Huawei, ZTE, Doro, Medion, Kazam and Wileyfox

Exertis has boosted its number of handset distribution agreements to 13 after signing a deal to distribute all of Alcatel’s mobile, tablets and wearables to UK partners.

The partnership, which has been in ongoing discussions since May, was announced today (October 10). Basingstoke-headquartered Exertis will be supplying the IDOL,  POP and PIXI handsets, alongside the PLUS10 and PIXI 4 tablets. The GO WATCH smart wearable will also be on sale. Each device will be available to Exertis’ partners in mobile, retail and B2B markets.

This new deal adds to existing partnerships secured since Exertis entered the handset space in 2008. These include Samsung, Microsoft, LG, Sony, Lenovo, Acer, Huawei, ZTE, Doro, Medion, Kazam and Wileyfox.

Alcatel, which recently rebranded from Alcatel OneTouch at this year’s Mobile World Congress in February, sold around 2.2 million handsets last year – an increase from 37 per cent annually. The manufacturer already has agreements settled with major rivals Data Select, Ingram Micro, Tech Data and Brightstar.

Exertis mobile director Simon Woodman said: “Alcatel has been building its market share in the UK, offering feature rich devices that are simple, personal and fun.

“We have the opportunity to help our customers target segments of the market, where other manufacturers have pulled out, by providing great products at competitive prices that particularly appeal to millennial and Gen Z consumers.”
