Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Solihull factory will soon begin building Range Rovers on a production line modernised by Ericsson Private 5G.

This next-generation connectivity will transform JLR’s vehicle manufacturing, integrating AI automation, machine learning, and advanced production tools.

JLR is replacing traditional wired networks to cut costly and time-consuming production processes, reducing lead times from weeks to seconds.

Ericsson Private 5G is already supporting JLR’s operations, enabling automated guided vehicles and real-time data analytics for seamless production workflows.

Private 5G also facilitates quick swapping and provisioning of connected tools, significantly reducing downtime and allowing for rapid reconfiguration of production lines. The ability to analyze and optimize factory operations in real-time is streamlining processes, lowering costs, and improving overall efficiency.

Stephen Mason, JLR’s Product Manager for Manufacturing, Global IT, said, “It is crucial for us to equip our teams with the tools and connectivity necessary to optimize efficiency. Ericsson Private 5G provides a robust foundation for a connected, agile, and data-driven manufacturing environment.”

Manish Tiwari, Head of Enterprise 5G at Ericsson, added, “Private 5G is transforming manufacturing by supporting the complex connectivity needs of Industry 4.0. We are thrilled to partner with a luxury automotive leader like JLR, providing a network solution that elevates their global manufacturing capabilities.”
