Nearly two-years on since launching 5G, EE is closing in on one million active 5G users
EE has expanded its 5G network once more with 35 new locations, taking the total UK locations covered by its 5G service to 160.
In the latest batch of locations, the operator has focused on tourist landmarks and coastal locations.
This has seen Brighton Pier, York Minster, Swansea Bay and Sandbanks Beach receive EE’s 5G service.
The operator expects to reach the one million active 5G customers milestone this month.
A key reason for upgrading coastal resorts comes as lockdown restrictions in the UK ease, while ‘staycations’ are expected to be the norm during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Once open in the coming weeks, EE customers can enjoy using 5G technology at: Brighton Pier, Exeter Cathedral, Norwich Cathedral, Paignton Sands, Sandbanks Beach, Poole, Swansea Maritime Quarter & Swansea Bay, V&A Museum, Dundee, York Minster & York Museum Gardens.
Commenting on the 5G expansion BT consumer division CEO Marc Allera said: “With the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions expected in the coming weeks and months, the increased capacity and faster speeds of our 5G network will ensure our customers stay connected as footfall starts to increase in historically busy places.”
