The attack in Istanbul Ataturk Airport has claimed the lives of 41 people
EE has become the latest network to waive charges for calls, texts and data to and from Turkey following terrorist attacks at Istanbul Ataturk Airport on June 27.
The decision by the operator is to support worried friends and family who might have been affected, or know someone affected, by the attack. Customers can just simply call EE to claim back any charges.
An EE spokesperson said: “We appreciate this is a very difficult time for anyone affected by the attacks in Istanbul. EE customers should let us know if they are affected when they can and we’ll help cover the costs of calling friends and family during this time”.
Three, Vodafone and iD are also amongst the companies waiving fees for calls, texts and data. Vodafone and iD customers won’t be charged until 23:59 tonight (June 30). Three customers who may be affected will have to contact the operator directly to claim back any charges. O2 is not offering any similar offers.
The attack has killed 41 people and injured more than 230. It took place in the departures hall in the airport, which is Europe’s third busiest. Reports say two men opened fire with automatic rifles before blowing themselves up
