With the cost-of-living crisis affecting consumer spending, EE and the Money Adviser Network have teamed up to support customers

EE’s customer service has partnered with Money Adviser Network, to provide its customers with free independent, debt advice.

The Money Adviser Network makes it easier for organisations to lead people who are having money problems in the direction of free, licensed debt advice.

This scheme has helped almost 3000 customers since its roll-out in June 2022. The debt referral procedure has been integrated into EE’s contact centres in the UK and Ireland, where advisers are trained to spot customers who are having financial difficulties.

The government’s new Breathing Space initiative, which accessed through the Money Adviser Network, may be offered to EE’s customers, depending on their circumstances, after discussions with a debt adviser.

With assistance from debt charities, this programme tries to give consumers time to recover from a precarious financial situation. This may entail stopping payments.

Caroline Siarkiewicz, Chief Executive of the Money and Pensions Service said: “The partnership – our first in the telecoms industry – offers access to debt advisers to help those struggling to keep up with payments and to find the best option to suit their personal circumstances in times of financial hardship.”
