New handset is free to customers taking BT’s Broadband and Digital Voice service
BT has today launched the new Advanced Digital Home Phone with Alexa built-in.
The handset will be available free to customers taking BT’s Broadband and Digital Voice service.
Customers can use the dedicated Alexa button to ask their home phone to call contacts, check the weather, adjust the volume, read out the latest news headlines, and stream music.
The Alexa feature can also be used to control Alexa-enabled smart devices around the home such as heating, lighting, and security.
The new Advanced Digital Home Phone with Alexa built-in features a 2,0-inch colour screen and other accessibility features including ringer volume boost and large text as well as a hands-free speaker.
The phone has a battery life of 240 hours in standby mode, 50 meters of indoor wireless range, and one-touch access to BT voicemail.
The handset works with BT’s Digital Voice home phone service which can be connected to their Smart Hub 2 router. Digital Voice forms part of BT’s plan to run all landline calls over broadband by 2025.
BT Consumer director of propositions Sharon Meadows said: “As our customers’ homes become more connected, we’re bringing our broadband and voice technologies together to improve quality of service, and we’ve collaborated with Amazon to make our latest digital home phone Alexa enabled.
“During these extraordinary times, a phone call from a friend or family member can make your day, and with our Advanced Digital Home Phone with Alexa built-in, customers can enjoy clearer calls – as well as the convenience and great range of features that Alexa provides.”
The new Advanced Digital Home Phone with Alexa built-in will be available for free to customers who take out BT’s Broadband and Digital Voice services starting from Wednesday 10th Feb.
Additional handsets can also be purchased from BT to work with BT’s Digital Voice service as follows:
