The acquisition further cements BAI Communications growth plans

BAI Communications has confirmed the acquisition of telco provider Vilicom as part of plans to strengthen its footprint in the UK and Europe.

The acquisition further strengthens the global communications infrastructure provider’s global operations, with the firm awarded a 20-year concession from Transport for London to upgrade connectivity on the Underground.

The move will see BAI Communications and Vilicom combine technical expertise and investment capability to bring scale to new innovative connectivity solutions such as private 5G networks.

Vilicom specialise in designing, installing and managing high performance wireless networks, including 4G and 5G mobile and cellular coverage solutions, with over 1,500 deployed so far.

Customers of Vilicom’s include healthcare, real-estate, retail, hospitality, energy and mobile network operators, while major projects include Dublin Airport T2, football stadiums plus Croke Park.

Commenting on the acquisition BAI Communications UK CEO Billy D’Arcy said: “At BAI we are working to connect the unconnected, and this acquisition will play a huge role in assisting us to achieve that goal.

“With its focus on indoor venues, Vilicom is helping to enhance connectivity for all and by investing in its growth we can transform access to high-speed mobile coverage, not only benefitting businesses, but the UK as a whole.”

BAI Communications also recently acquired Mobilitie, the largest privately-held telecommunications infrastructure company in the U.S., while striking a 20-year strategic partnership to transform Sunderland into an advanced smart city.
