The highly anticipated Phone (1) launches next week

Almost 200,000 people have signed up to the waiting list for Nothing’s Phone (1) smartphone.

The phone which will be the first launched by Nothing, a London-based vendor founded by former OnePlus CEO Carl Pei, is set for launch on July 12.

And since June 24 consumers have been able to sign up to the waiting list for the Phone (1), although an invite from Nothing is needed before a place on the waiting list is confirmed.

Those that do receive an invite, have 48 hours to pay a non-refundable £20 deposit to secure their order.

This deposit is used against the final price of the Phone (1), although the cost of the phone has yet to be confirmed.

Last month Nothing teamed up with StockX to release the first 100 units, with each unit serialised and engraved as part of a 48-hour auction, with the highest bid ending up beyond £2,000.

In the UK, O2 has been confirmed as the official network partner for Nothing.
