Radius has acquired a number of telecoms companies in recent years
Radius Payment Solutions has acquired West Midlands telecommunications firm Air Telecom Group, as the company ramps up its growth plans.
The deal will add almost 20,000 customers to Radius’ telecom arm Radius Connect, which offers a range of mobile telecoms services.
It is the second major acquisition for the company in recent months after buying a majority stake in Dublin-based Telcom in December.
Shirley-based Air Telecom Group was founded in 2009 and is led by group chief executive Manni Shemi.
The business specialises in integrated mobile, hosted telephony and connectivity solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.
Radius, which has a broad range of services including telecoms fuel cards, telematics, insurance and electric vehicles and has an annual turnover of more than £2.6bn, has made a number of acquisitions of telecoms businesses in recent years.
This includes Pure Telecom, Trinity Maxwell, Rainbow Communications, Reliance Networks and Connect Total.
Commenting on the acquisition, Radius Connect managing director Ray Ferris (pictured) said: “Air Telecom has a strong regional and national presence with excellent customer and supplier relationships.
“We’re keen to work with Manni and the team to develop their customer offerings further and in turn grow the business as part of our rapid growth plans in the UK and Ireland.”
