Former Samsung UK and Ireland returns to operator after Mojo Maker u-turn
O2 has appointed former Samsung UK mobile and IT head Simon Stanford as its new head of enterprise sales.
At O2 Stanford replaces Darren Buttrick, who has become sales director of Telefonica Global Solutions. He will report to Gavin Franks, who heads up the operator’s enterprise team.
Stanford takes charge of O2’s enterprise private sector sales team, helping them to implement and execute O2’s strategy of continuing to grow its ICT and digital portfolio.
Stanford spent more than six years at O2 from January 2003 as head of connected markets. He left Samsung in June as the Korean manufacturer came under pressure to reduce slipping market share.
Stanford said: “Businesses are under more pressure than ever to have mobility at the heart of their strategy.
“This is a fantastic time to be joining the O2 enterprise team, as we can really help businesses, showing them how technology can help them work smarter.”
O2 business director Ben Dowd added: “Simon has an impressive track-record of driving business growth, and his experience makes him the ideal choice to lead our private sector sales team.
“We have ambitions to accelerate growth in the enterprise sector and Simon will be instrumental in demonstrating technology for private sector organisations.”
Stanford was expected to join ODM MOJO Maker this month as UK and Ireland MD to improve sales to operators and retailers.
