Software company extends agreement with Aer Lingus to offer a range of mobile applications

Advanced Computer Software has extended its deal with Aer Lingus to integrate a range of the company’s mobile productivity apps into the airline’s financial administration software.

Advanced Air Applications will allow for integration into the Irish Airline’s Advanced e5 financial management system allowing senior management to approve or reject transactions from iOS or Android devices while on the go.

Transactions are able to be authorised off line as the app holds transaction and processing information within it and will communicate with central systems when a network connection becomes available.

Aer Lingus processes around 50,000 invoices, new supplier requests and other transactions every year. It has an annual spend of around ‚¬1 billion (£790 million).

The app works in real-time, when a connection is available, and also allows for managers to attach notes as required. Security is provided through integration with Advanced’s cloud-hosted Air Administration gateway which allows IT staff to monitor app levels of activity.

“Investing in mobile technologies is a key part of our IT strategy to maintain a competitive advantage,” Aer Lingus head if data governance John Greene. “We saw an opportunity to extend this by streamlining our back-office processes to offer greater mobility and visibility to senior staff that spend time out of the office.”
