Adam Toop, the founder, chairman and CEO of Chiswick-based dealer Adam Phones, will step down from his role at the end of February after 30 years guiding the business.

This was confirmed to Mobile News by Ray Ferris, managing director for telecoms at Radius Payment Solutions – a fuel card and telematics firm with 26 offices in 15 countries that acquired Adam Phones in October 2018.

That buy formed part of Radius’ diversification strategy, which it built on with its recent acquisitions of Shropshire-based Pure Telecom (see Mobile News 694), Shoreditch-based Trinity Maxwell, and Macclesfield service provider Reliance Networks.

Toop (pictured, left) started Adam Phones in 1987, initially serving high-profile clients who arrived in London via Heathrow Airport with mobile devices for hire.

The dealer now serves financial clients in the capital, and is also one of the few resellers in the UK with licences to sell and support devices on all three business networks.

“The name Adam Phones has been synonymous with the City and the financial market sector,” said Ferris.

“The business we’re running here is highly profitable and has been built up for a number of years, so what we don’t want to do is mess with the formula,” he said.

Toop was unavailable for comment.
