Liberty Global appoints Andrew Cole as non-executive director

Cole becomes the only Virgin board member to join following Liberty’s $24 billion acquisition of the firm last week 

Liberty Global has appointed Virgin Media board member Andrew Cole as a non-executive director.

Cole (pictured) is the only Virgin board member to have been appointed to the Liberty Global board following the cable company’s $24 billion (£15.4 billion) acquisition of Virgin last week.

He joined Virgin in July 2008 and sat on its board of directors for five years. He is still CEO for Europe/EMEA of wireless handset insurance provider Asurion and a board member of asset-based leasing firm Arundel Capital.

Cole also began working on a one-on-one basis with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in 2005, providing advice on the manufacturer’s products.
