EE network issues resolved after lengthy outage

The operator said less than five per cent of customers were affected by the issues, which left customers without data connectivity

EE suffered a network outage yesterday evening (March 19) which it said has now been resolved.

According to the operator less than five per cent of customers (around 1.3 million) were affected, though it could not specify which areas were hit.

Customers from areas including London and Manchester took to twitter to report the problems, which began early yesterday evening. This morning (March 20) EE said it had fixed the problem and apologised to those affected.

EE said customers who are still experiencing problems should turn their device on and off.

The company was also criticised for its lighthearted humour during the outage, including the use of pictures of Gremlins.

EE said: “Last night’s technical issue that caused a small proportion of our customers to experience problems with their signal has been resolved and all customers are now receiving a normal service. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to those customers affected.”
