A round-up of deals available from mobile retailers online and on the high street
CARPHONE
The Galaxy S and Galaxy Europa are promoted heavily this week on the O2, Vodafone and Orange networks and are free on all three networks. The Galaxy S is available for £30 a month across the board over 24 months and all include 600 any network minutes and unlimited texts. The Galaxy Europa is free on tariffs across the same networks. Vodafone offers 500 texts, 100 any network minutes and 500MB of data, O2 100 any network minutes and unlimited texts and Orange 10o any network minutes, 300 texts and unlimited landline calls.
PHONES 4U
The retailer is reaching out to students returning to education next month. Under the banner ‘The Student Saviour – start the term with a free laptop’, it is offering the Dell Inspiron 11z laptop when customers opt for the Samsung Tocco Lite in black on the O2 600 tariff over 24 months. This costs £30 a month and gives users 600 minutes and 3,000 texts. The ‘Deal of the Week’ involves the BlackBerry Pearl 3G on the Orange Panther BlackBerry tariff over 24 months. The tariff was £35 a month but is being offered on this deal for £27.50 a month.
O2
Three months free line rental is being offered with O2’s home broadband packages. ‘Standard Broadband’ now costs £7.50 a month, ‘Premium Broadband’ £10 a month, ‘Pro Broadband’ £17.50 a month and ‘Home Phone’ £17 a month. Monthly line rental has been reduced by £5 across all packages and all are over 12-month contracts.
ORANGE
Under the banner ‘Orange recommends Samsung phones on pay monthly’, the network pushes the Galaxy Apollo, Galaxy S and Wave on the Dolphin 20 contract over 24 months, off ering 100 any network minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited emails and 500MB of free data usage a month. The BlackBerry 8520 on Dolphin 20 is also given a nudge, offering 500 any network minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited email and unlimited internet usage over 24 months.
THREE
The network’s new One Plan tariff is now available as a SIM-only option, giving customers 2,000 any network minutes, 5,000 texts, 5,000 Three-to-Three minutes and 1GB of free internet every month. Three also announces under a ‘Latest News’ banner that the Apple iPhone 4 is now on sale on its One Plan. On the £45 a month option customers will get the same allowances as the SIM-only plan but will have to pay £89 for the handset.
VODAFONE
Vodafone goes on the laptop and mobile broadband trail, pushing the Compaq Presario CQ61-400 with mobile broadband. For £35 a month customers can get the laptop along with a USB modem that has a usage allowance of 3GB a month over a 24 month period. Vodafone’s cheapest SIM-only plan is also pushed, costing £10 a month and o ering 300 minutes and unlimited texts.
