O2 to review Arsenal sponsorship deal in 2012

Operator will put deal signed in 2002 through “process of review” next year

O2 has also confirmed its 10-year sponsorship deal with Arsenal football club is up for renewal and will be reviewed next year.

O2 became the Premier League Club’s sponsor in 2002 in a deal understood to have originally cost the company around £3 million a year plus a share of revenues.

Emirates took over the shirt sponsorship from 2006 but O2 remains a prominent brand across all Arsenal marketing.

An O2 spokesperson said: “We have and continue to enjoy a long and fruitful relationship with Arsenal.

“We can confirm out sponsorship agreement is up for discussion next year and we will be putting it through our normal process of review.”
