Yota opens its own branded store in London and launches Yotaphone 2 at store opening
Russian manufacturer Yota has launched the follow-up to two-sided phone Yotaphone at an event in London on December 3.
The Yotaphone 2 runs on Android and comes with two fully working touch displays. On the front, it has a 5 inch high-definition 1080p AMOLED screen and on the back, there is Yota’s “Always-On Display”.
The manufacturer claims that this display is perfect for e-reading, notifications, outdoor visibility and will help users conserve battery by allowing them to send and read texts and emails without turning on the main screen.
The 4.7 inch Always-On Display gives a 180 degree viewing angle, according to Yota, and it claims that 74 per cent of the device is touchscreen.
Yota CEO Vlad Martynov said: “We believe our technology constitutes an entirely new type of mobile device, not just by integrating a power efficient electronic paper display but by making two screens work in harmony.”
Yotaphone 2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2 Ghz quad-core processor with 32GB of memory, an 8MP rear camera and a front-facing 2MP camera. It is also 4G ready.
Yotaphone 2 costs £555 and is available from the Yota store, which is opened in Brick Lane (London) on December 3.
