Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 780 5G

Devices featuring newest platform are expected to hit the market in Q2 2021

Qualcomm has announced the launch of its new Snapdragon 7-series 5G mobile platform – the Snapdragon 780G.

The new Snapdragon 780G supports a range of features that are new to the 7-series: 

  • The Snapdragon 780G is the first 7-series platform with a triple Image Signal Processor (ISP) that’s able to capture from 3x cameras simultaneously: plus new low light architecture so that users can shoot professional-quality photos in any lighting conditions 
  • The chipset is powered by the 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine, meaning every connection, video call, and phone call is enhanced by AI – everything from background noise suppression to improved voice assistant interactions 
  • The Snapdragon 780G comes fully optimized with advanced Snapdragon Elite Gaming features which Qualcomm says enables smooth, HDR, desktop-level gaming. The Snapdragon 780G makes feature-rich next-generation gaming more accessible to both OEMs and consumers. 
  • The Snapdragon 780G also supports multi-gigabit class Wi-Fi 6 speeds up to 3.6 Gbps, plus VR-class low latency and robust capacity. 

Commercial devices featuring the Snapdragon 780G are expected to hit the market in Q2 of 2021.
