Broadband internet network developer Jurassic Fibre has announced plans to increase the rollout of its fibre network to half a million homes and businesses across 30 towns and villages in the South West region by 2026.
This announcement came as The Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak MP visited Jurassic Fibre’s Devon headquarters in Honiton.
CEO of Jurassic Fibre Michael Maltby informed the Chancellor of the company’s achievements in its first four years, including providing access to ultrafast fibre broadband to 100,000 households and businesses across 21 towns in the South West along with creating 350 jobs.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP said: “Through better access to ultrafast broadband, people and businesses in the region can benefit from the same opportunities afforded to regions like London and the South East. Jurassic Fibre has been a stalwart champion in bringing ever greater broadband access to areas like Devon.
CEO of Jurassic Fibre Michael Maltby added: “Our investment in the region has made gigabit speeds a reality for many rural communities. But there is a still a long way to go in bringing the South West’s digital infrastructure up to the levels required in the 21st century.
